With Patrick Cutrone having such a disappointing season, there are those who can’t believe that a promising player went from heaven to hell in such a short time.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato features a story today recalling the times when the striker started emerging in Serie A, scoring an impressive number of goals and being compared to the likes of Pippo Inzaghi.
Since things haven’t worked out for him at Wolverhampton Wanderers following a €28m move from Milan in 2019, the report points out that the Premier League could not be the best league for him, so it was worth checking how he’d do somewhere else.
But with Cutrone now failing in two consecutive loans, first at Fiorentina and now at Valencia, Calcio Mercato says it’s now ‘forbidden’ to compare him with Pippo Inzaghi once again, claiming he’s ‘in crisis’.
Cutrone moved to La Liga in January, and has only managed to make three appearances for the Mestalla side so far.
Last week, Spanish outlets had been pointing out that none of Valencia’s summer signings have been getting enough playing time. Fichajes even called the transfers a ‘disaster’, and Cutrone is among them.
The striker has a contract with Wolves until 2023, and at the age of 23, there’s obviously a lot of time for him to continue looking for a place where he can show that old potential once again. His last goal was scored in July 2020.
