Wolverhampton Wanderers could end up as part of a kind of swap deal with Juventus that sees midfielder Leandro Paredes arrive at the club as a replacement for Ruben Neves.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say the two players could swap clubs in the summer transfer window.
They explain that Juventus’ summer market is heavily dependent on several factors, but they are looking around nonetheless at potential reinforcements.
They want to fill a hole in their midfield as Paredes has been a ‘real disappointment’ and will be sent back to Paris Saint Germain when his loan deal comes to an end.
However, that doesn’t mean he’ll be staying in Paris for too long as there are suitors in the Premier League, with Wolves named.
That would give the Argentine a new team but also then provide the Italian side with room to get one of their own targets in Neves.
He has often been linked with Barcelona but they are yet to make their move and Juventus believe he would be ‘an excellent profile’ for their squad as they look to replace Paredes and potentially cover Adrien Rabiot’s departure as well.
The idea is a simple one, send Paredes back to PSG so he can be sold to Wolves in the belief that opens up their willingness to sell Neves in the summer.
At the moment they seem reluctant to do so despite the Portuguese player’s contract at Molineux expiring in 2024 and him making it clear on more than one occasion he’d like to play at a higher level.
If they could secure a replacement first, that might change their mind, but it is a big if. And that is also the major issue with an idea such as this, the number of moving parts it entails.
First PSG would have to agree a deal with Wolves for Paredes and then there needs to be negotiations between Juve and Wolves for Neves.
It’s complicated, to say the least, so it’s worth taking the idea with a massive pinch of salt for the time being.
