Jorge Mendes Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest club to be linked with Benfica full back Alexis Scholl, according to claims in Portugal. The Belgian youngster could leave the Portuguese champions this summer, and has already caught the attention of Leeds United.

A Bola have reported Scholl could be an option for Wolves as the club continue to recruit players from Portugal, and in particular Benfica. Although they say the rumour started elsewhere, and we haven’t been able to locate that.

Since Wolves were purchased by Fosun International, Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes has been responsible for helping the club bring in the likes of Helder Costa and Joao Teixeira from Benfica. Brazilian forward Talisca is another player from the Portuguese champions who has been linked with a move to Molineux.

However, there are no further details from A Bola on whether Wolves have made an approach or tabled an offer for Scholl, and the reason he’s been linked with the West Midlands club may be because of their recent transfer activity in Portugal.

Leeds United have also been showing an interest in Scholl in recent weeks following claims they were close to completing a deal for the former Gent defender. With the uncertainty over the future of Charlie Taylor at Eland Road, the youngster is seen as a possible replacement.

Benfica look to be keen to shed some of their fringe players, and they’ve found a market in the Championship.
