Saturday’s edition of A Bola has an article on Wolves and Matheus Nunes, and it’s probably not what fans of the Premier League club will want to hear.

It’s made clear that Bruno Lage wants the player, and that Wolves have an offer worth €45m, plus a further €5m in bonus payments, ready.

Sporting CP have been made aware of this situation by Jorge Mendes, however, they’ve also been told Wolves won’t go through with that offer until they’ve secured a Ruben Neves exit.

A Bola explain Wolves have made it clear they need the ‘financial inflow’ from a Neves sale before they go through with a deal to sign another midfielder. It’s explained the delay is also partly why Palhinha is very close to becoming a Fulham player, after Wolves had also been keen.

Nunes himself is said to have been initially reluctant over the idea of joining Wolves anyway, feeling he could aim higher. Since then, things have changed a little, given he knows how important the fee would be to Sporting, that he’d have ‘greater visibility’ in English football, and that his wages would increase.

A Bola don’t make it explicit, but there’s a good chance Mendes will have also played a part in the persuasion.

Despite all of that, it’s stated the move is ‘blocked’ until Neves is sold, or presumably money appears from somewhere else.
