After joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from AC Milan in the summer, it’s fair to say that things have not worked out well for Patrick Cutrone in the Black Country.
The Italian was supposed to add extra firepower to Wolves attack this season but has managed just three goals in 24 appearances so far.
He has found it hard even to get game time at Molineux so far, and he has managed just 13 minutes of league football since the end of October.
It’s not an ideal situation for the striker, but it seems Serie A side Torino may be ready to offer him an escape according to Tuttosport, although it will take a convoluted transfer saga for it to happen.
Essentially, it all relies on SPAL striker Andrea Petagna. He has interest from clubs around Italy and should he leave, SPAL would want a replacement.
The man they’re looking at is Simone Zaza, the Torino striker, and should he leave then Torino would look for a ‘young replacement’, and that man is Cutrone.
He’s out of favour at Wolves, and manager Nuno Espírito Santo has given the green light to a departure in January, which has made Torino have second thoughts about doing a deal.
They face competition from Fiorentina for the striker, with La Viola already proposing a loan deal with a right to buy at the end of it.
Cutrone would be happy with a move to either club as the important thing for him is to head back to Italy.
