Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir is a potential target for Villarreal this summer as they look to secure a replacement for Carlos Bacca.
That’s according to El Periòdico Mediterráneo, who say the striker is a player the Europa League champions are ‘considering’.
He’s spent this season on loan with Huesca and impressed, managing 13 goals and one assist in his best campaign by far.
They had an option to buy him for €10m but have decided against that due to their relegation, and so Wolves need to find another buyer.
Mir has a year left on his deal at Wolves, but they want to sell rather than renew, and Villarreal could provide an option.
They believe that Mir is a player with ‘great physical conditions and a remarkable size’ who ‘performs very well with spaces in front and speed’ all of which are characteristics they are looking for.
His asking price is between €6-8m, so an acceptable figure for the Spanish side, with the probable departure of Bacca opening up a space and Mir, considered an ‘ideal replacement’.
