Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Sasa Kalajdzic has insisted his injury problems are behind him, thanks to knee specialist Andy Williams, who worked on Virgil van Dijk.

SportBILD have an interview with the Wolverhampton striker today as he looks to get back to actions after his injury nightmare at Molineux.

He suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his left knee in his first game for Wolves in 2022 after an €18m move from VfB Stuttgart.

That saw him spend over a year on the sidelines fighting his way back and heading to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan to try and get back to full fitness.

That proved to be a disastrous idea, though, as he then tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee in February 2024. He’s been battling back from that second injury since and is now ready to make his return next season.

Of course, after two major injuries in both knees there is naturally concern about such a return and either a recurrence of the injuries or a new problem entirely.

The Wolves man, though, is confident that won’t be happening to him after receiving assurances from expert Andy Williams, who worked on Virgil van Dijk after his knee injury.

“I now have two repaired knees: I’ve found the right measures for myself to be fully fit and able to play again in the future, at 100%,” he said.

“I’m aware that I can’t play 50 or 60 games in a season right now. Next season is about playing consistently to show my body that everything’s fine. Physically, I feel great, ready.

“My strength levels are better than before, and I’ve even improved my maximum speed. My body is capable of playing professional football. I can show again what I’ve already demonstrated in the Bundesliga.

“I worked with Andy Williams, the absolute knee specialist in Europe. He also operated on Virgil van Dijk’s knee. He told me about a phenomenon that’s hard to describe and hasn’t been scientifically proven: If you tear a cruciate ligament, there’s a high probability that the second knee will also be affected later.

“The doctor says: The knee is now rock solid. He says I don’t have to worry – even though there are no guarantees. I’m not thinking about the injuries anymore. I’m mentally prepared for anything now.”
