Update: L’Equipe are now reporting Wolves have reached an agreement in principle to sign Emmanuel Agbadou. The fee is estimated at around €20m, and the transfer has been managed by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute.

According to multiple claims, Wolverhampton Wanderers have stepped up their pursuit for Stade de Reims defender Emmanuel Agbadou.

Earlier today we covered reports from the French media that Wolves are showing interest in the 27-year-old and could move in on the player in this transfer window.

Yagiz Sabuncuoglu has taken to social media to report on the latest developments regarding the future of Agbadou and the journalist claims Wolves have tabled an offer of €20m, plus €2m in add ons.

It’s also reported the English side are expected to face competition to sign the Ivory Coast international, with Bundesliga side Stuttgart also monitoring the situation with the central defender.

There have been other reports fellow German side Wolfsburg are also interested.

With their issues at set pieces this season Wolves manager Vítor Pereira is likely to be looking to bolster his defensive options in this window, and the 6,3ft central defender will give them more presence at the back.

Agbadou has started 14 Ligue 1 games for Reims this season and is contracted to the French side until June 2028.
