Wolverhampton Wanderers seemingly made another attempt to sign Andrea Belotti before the window closes.
The striker left Torino as a free agent at the end of last season and is yet to find a new club.
Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport stated Wolves made an effort to sign the 28-year-old, but he refused as he is waiting for AS Roma despite a move to Molineux seeing him earn a higher salary.
Bruno Lage’s side are dragged into the mix again, while the Serie A side still remain in the picture to take the Italy international. That’s according to Calciomercato, who say the Serie A side’s chief, Tiago Pinto, has activated contacts to sign him.
The Giallorossi are waiting to offload one of their attackers to make cash and room in the squad, before closing the deal for Belotti. This has allowed several other clubs to move in and the Premier League side appear to have joined the chase once again.
Wolves have made an ‘attempt’ to sign the player as they wanted to ‘try to snatch the yes’ of the frontman, but he declined, like he turned down approaches made by other clubs because Belotti is waiting for Roma.
Meanwhile, Roma manager José Mourinho has hailed several claims stating the player is keen to make a switch to the Stadio Olimpico.
“Pinto knows whether or not I’d like to have another striker. I just have to wait for this thing to be done with hope. If this is not possible, we will go on anyway,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by ASRomaLive.
“If Belotti were a player of some team I would not speak. This is why I take the liberty of saying that if it is true that he really wants to come to Roma, I really like his strong desire to come here. Let’s wait and see.”
