Wolverhampton Wanderers enjoyed a good 2018/19 season as they finished seventh in the league table.

Nuno Espirito Santo and his side are looking to strengthen their defence for the next campaign and therefore, they have set their sights on Mouctar Diakhaby.

This is according to today’s edition of French newspaper L’Equipe and they state the Premier League club are interested in the Valencia defender.

It’s claimed Wolves have already ‘taken information’ from the Spanish side about the 22-year-old, meaning contact has been initiated between the two clubs for the centre-back.

Diakhaby still has four years left on his contract with his current employer and the report explains the player’s valuation is around €20m.

The Frenchman left Lyon and made a switch to Mestalla last summer and in his debut season in the La Liga, he went on to make 36 appearances across all competitions, which included 28 starts.

His performance have also seen him make it to reserve list for France U21 squad, for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship that will take place in Italy next month.

This looks like an interesting young option for Wolves, and a player who could quickly increase in stature and value.
