You all remember how Patrick Cutrone, one of the more promising strikers in Serie A, was sold by Milan to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer for €18m.
You’ll also remember that the Italian didn’t manage to fully convince Nuno Espírito Santo at Molineux in his first six months with the Premier League club, which led to him being loaned out to Fiorentina for the next 18 months with an obligation to buy.
Well, said obligation to buy, according to La Nazione, still has some parameters that need to be met before it’s triggered.
The newspaper state it’s linked to a set number of appearances the player has to make, after which the Serie A side will have to pay €16m.
Seeing as he has, so far, only scored one goal in nine games for the Italians, there could be questions over whether or not he will ever meet the requirements, but La Nazione reassure everyone it’s entirely probable.
The player is happy where he is, and while he might not have played much, there’s still a whole other season to turn that around.
This seems to also dispel claims from England that Fiorentina were looking to move on from the Wolves loanee in search of a more experienced striker.
All in all, there’s time, but now we know Cutrone needs to play if Wolverhampton are to get their €16m.
A situation to keep an eye on.
