On Thursday there are lots of sports websites linking Iuri Medeiros to Wolves. It simply came out of nothing, so we had a little dig into it.
All the English websites, and a few Portuguese ones, claim it’s coming from O Jogo. They say it’s the outlet who first published the story, claiming Wolves are keen on the 21-year-old.
However, O Jogo very clearly say the claim came from the English media. Weird, isn’t it?
We’ve been through this a few times, and it’s usually a translation problem.
And bingo, here it is. Adam Simeoni, from Football League World, wrote an article suggesting that Nuno Espírito Santo should keep an eye on the Portuguese market and Medeiros would be a good option. He never said there was interest, talks, or a bid. He just suggested.
O Jogo, who probably mistranslated the word ‘should’, claim that Sporting are looking to sell the player for €9m. That’s the only relevant information we can take from all of this.
At least if Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo has been reading the press, he already knows Medeiros’ price.
