Jorge Mendes could ‘press’ James Rodríguez to join Wolverhampton Wanderers from Real Madrid this summer.
The Colombian is set to leave the Spanish giants in the summer transfer window, with them keen to move him on after failing to impress Zinedine Zidane this season.
With his contract expiring in 2021, Madrid need to sell this year to avoid him departing on a free transfer in 12 months.
Unfortunately for Rodríguez, there is not a long list of suitors like there were in the past, with the Premier League his most likely destination according to Marca.
Wolves are one of those clubs interested in signing him; they can offer him regular game times, a starring role in the team and also have ‘powerful arguments’ to convince him to move.
Of his options, Wolves are seen as the ‘worst sports project’ but James’ representative, Jorge Mendes, can play an important role in proceedings.
The super-agent is something of a powerbroker at Molineux and could ‘press’ the 28-year-old to pick Nuno Espirito Santo’s side ahead of the others looking to secure his signature.
That would be of no surprise to anybody, with Mendes having convinced several others to make the move in the last few years. Rodríguez would be the biggest name by far, though, if he could pull it off.
