Struggling during his first few months at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leander Dendoncker is now a very useful player for Nuno Espírito Santo, capable of playing at the heart of the defence or just in front of it.
Prior to football being put on hold, the 25-year-old had made 46 appearances in all competitions for Wolves, and is now one of the few undisputed starters at Molineux.
However, all this improvement and versatility has caught the eye abroad, as Corriere dello Sport believe Lazio are taking an interest in the Belgium international.
They see him as a ‘Champions League level’ acquisition, and would be a ‘true reinforcement’ for Simone Inzaghi’s squad, because ‘wherever you play him, he makes a difference’.
That’s why he can be considered a ‘concrete’ target for the Serie A club, and a lot could depend on whether Sergej Milinković-Savić stays, as the Serbian’s sale would certainly be enough to fund a move for the Wolves player, who could replace him.
A new one to keep an eye on, but we doubt the Premier League side will have much interest in listening to offers for Dendoncker this summer.
Then again, Lazio could end up playing in the Champions League (they are currently second in Serie A), and that’s a very big bonus in their favour capable of swaying players’ commitment…
