Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of the sides interested in Porto midfielder Sérgio Oliveira, who could be set to leave Porto this summer.
That’s according to O Jogo, who say this summer could be ‘crucial’ for him if he intends to depart the Portuguese giants permanently.
They explain that while the midfielder is not officially represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, he is working on a deal for the player nonetheless.
Roma have not triggered a purchase option on him, having loaned him in January, even though Jose Mourinho has publicly admitted he would like to have Oliveira at his disposal permanently.
So the player will have to look at other options, and one of those could be joining the Portuguese contingent at Wolves.
Mendes is drawing up a list of suitors and while in Italy there is interest from Napoli and Lazio, they are not alone in the race as Wolves, who are ‘on the verge’ of selling Ruben Neves, are also ‘interested’ in a deal.
They, as well as Valencia, are two clubs with whom Mendes ‘works the most’ and having promised Oliveira he would sort his future if Roma didn’t make a move, it was inevitable they would be brought into the mix.
Porto, for their part, are looking for a figure around €10m for the midfielder, which is a figure Wolves could presumably afford with little issue.
It’s still not been ruled out completely that Roma will activate their €8m option either, but if they don’t, then Mendes is working hard and a move to Molineux is a possibility as a result.
