Wolverhampton Wanderers have asked Nantes about striker Mostafa Mohamed, after he turned down the chance to move to Saudi Arabia.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say Wolves have looked at his profile ahead of the transfer window ending.

The newspaper explains that it remains to be seen if Mohamed will be a Nantes player by Friday evening as clubs appear to be circling the Egyptian.

He was recently the subject of a bid from an unnamed Saudi club, who put a €15m bid on the table. This was turned down by Mohamed, who didn’t want the move.

Now it is Marseille and Wolves who have ‘surveyed Nantes’ to study the feasibility of a transfer. In simpler terms, they’ve asked Nantes what their asking price for the striker is.

L’Equipe provide no details on a potential transfer but do say Nice asked about a loan deal earlier in the window. That could be a hint that Marseille and Wolves are doing similar.

Either way, it appears Nantes expect there to be movement around Mohamed before deadline day as the two clubs, and potentially others, are asking about him.
