Last week, Almeria’s Marc Pubill underwent preliminary medical tests with AC Milan amidst interest from Wolves.
The test was done to confirm the condition of the right-back’s knee, as Pubill has had troubles with the knee in the past and the Italian side wanted to be sure about his fitness before making a move.
MilanNews report that this approach from Milan left Wolves nervous. Their move was held up for two days, especially since the defender was pushing to join the Rossoneri.
The outlet report that Vitor Pereira’s side were close to signing Pubill before Milan had the 22-year-old undergo a medical.
Now, there could be an opening for Wolves. Gazzetta dello Sport report Max Allegri’s side have not made fresh contact with Almeria, despite Pubill passing the medical with flying colours.
The Italian giants have technical doubts about a move. Alex Jimenez and Alexis Saelemaekers can play at right-back and Fikayo Tomori can also do a job. As a result, the idea of signing a new player for the position is losing prominence.
This could help Wolves, who are yet to replace Nelson Semedo.
