Wolverhampton Wanderers are finally completing the signing of Matheus Nunes from Sporting, according to the latest reports from Portugal.
Record writes that the clubs closed the agreement ‘in the past few hours’. According to the report, the Premier League side are paying €45m for the transfer, plus a potential €5m in performance bonuses.
Nunes had been linked to the Molineux side since the summer of 2021. The interest from Bruno Lage’s side had only grown in the past few months, with the Portuguese media claiming Sporting were fine with their offer, as the hard part of the deal was to convince the player of making the move.
Now Record says that Nunes ended up ‘saying yes’ following the insistence from the former Benfica manager.
Last week, West Ham boss David Moyes also confirmed the Hammers’ pursuit for the player, revealing that he had rejected a move to London as well. The Portuguese press insisted that the player wanted a club who’d fight for titles and play in the Champions League.
Earlier on Monday, it was claimed that Wolves were insisting on the signing and would make a new offer this week. Now it looks like, somehow, Bruno Lage’s side finally managed to convince him.
