On Thursday, Marca announced to the world that Jesus Vallejo would be joining Wolves.

There was no fanfare, it was simply reported the Real Madrid defender would be moving on loan for a season and there’d be no buying option for the Premier League club. There was a suggestion Vallejo would renew his Madrid contract before leaving, given it had less than two years left on it.

A few hours after that, AS published their own take on events, and explained the renewal was a certainty and that things may drag on a little because Vallejo, or rather his agents, would have to agree on a new salary and also what he’d be paid at Wolves.

It seems things have been moving quickly because now AS report that, ‘in principle’, Vallejo to Wolves can be official on Saturday.

A new contract will be signed, lasting until 2024 or 2025, and talks have ben rapid. It’s explained the 22 year old had offers from elsewhere in La Liga, but wanted to try another trip abroad, having already played for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Wolves is an especially good option because Vallejo speaks English. Maybe he can pick up some Portuguese too.
