There was a bit of a centre-back mayhem on Thursday, as many Premier League clubs were scrambling around to sign defenders.
Wolverhampton Wanderers were one of them, with the club reportedly interested in Strasbourg’s Alexander Djiku at one point.
This was reported by Foot Mercato, who claimed the club were going after the Ghana international, but then news about a possible move stopped.
The reason for that, it seems, was Bruno Lage’s desire to work with Craig Dawson instead, but despite some early promising news, the player never left West Ham for Wolves, who now find themselves somewhat short at the back.
We all know that last bit didn’t happen, meaning Lage’s side shot themselves in the foot, ending up with no defenders when they could have had one of the players on their list, with the Ligue 1 club now getting to keep their defender for the foreseeable future.
