Sometimes a transfer rumour comes along, and you can’t help but laugh because it’s incredibly doubtful it’ll ever happen. James Rodríguez to Wolverhampton Wanderers is one such rumour.

Rodríguez currently finds himself out of favour at Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane preferring others ahead of him.

According to El Desmarque, the Frenchman has now decided he would prefer Isco ahead of Rodríguez too and so; the Colombian is looking for a move away.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has agreed with Rodríguez’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to sort out his future.

A move in January is looking likely and ‘everything indicates’ that he will leave Madrid for a team in the Premier League. As far as the website is concerned, Wolves are one of those teams.

They say that Mendes, who is apparently on the board at Wolves, has proposed that he head to Molineux in a swap deal for Rubén Neves. Nuno Espirito Santo is a big fan of Rodríguez and wants him to be ‘the star’ in his team.

It’s not explained, however, whether he would be willing to lose the current star of his team in Neves to replace him with Rodríguez.

Nor is the Colombian’s stance on such a transfer shared, although it does seem unlikely he’d be keen on it.

Wolves can offer Premier League and Europa League football, but it would be a significant step down for a player who was at Bayern Munich for the last two years and was linked with the likes of Napoli in the summer.

Instead, this feels like El Desmarque linking Mendes to Wolves and Rodríguez, adding them together and getting a dubious at best transfer rumour.
