It’s been a while since Wolverhampton Wanderers started being linked to Sporting midfielder João Palhinha.
The rumours started still in 2020, and since then, in every transfer window, we see the Portuguese media pointing out that the player could end up moving to the Molineux Stadium.
Now it seems this story won’t go away anytime soon, because according to a report from Jornal de Notícias today, Wolves remain attentive to the 26-year-old.
Following claims from the local media saying Wolves had a scout at the match between Porto and Sporting a couple of weeks ago, it’s now said those officials were there to watch Palhinha.
So the Molineux side now show up as one of the potential destinations for the midfielder, who is said to have a few interested clubs willing to take him to England.
Jornal de Notícias claim Palhinha’s agents had a few approaches in January, and knows there will be a bigger chance for a summer move, with Sporting demanding a minimum of €30m to let him go, which is half of his release clause.
At the start of the month, newspaper A Bola labelled Wolves the ‘most likely destination’ for the player at the end of the season.
