Even though there are a few Premier League clubs who are said to be interested in signing Sporting midfielder João Palhinha this summer, it’s the pursuit from Wolverhampton Wanderers that is today highlighted by local reports.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias features a story claiming manager Bruno Lage has put the player ‘on top of the list of priorities’ for the next transfer window.
The manager is said to be concerned about the reinforcement of their midfield, especially because it’s ‘very likely’ that João Moutinho will leave the club at the end of his contract.
Jornal de Notícias writes that now with this scenario, Ruben Neves’ potential departure isn’t so decisive for Palhinha to arrive at Molineux.
According to the report, Sporting currently demand €30m to let Palhinha go, and the amount could get to €40m depending on performance bonuses.
Wolves, however, are clearly not the only club in the race for the midfielder. The story points out that Manchester United and Tottenham join Bruno Lage’s side as the ‘main interested’ clubs, with Spurs preparing an official bid.
But for some reason, it’s the Molineux side’s chase which looks fresher today.
