On March 6th we covered claims from Spain on Wolves’ long term interest in Barcelona’s Riqui Puig, which stated the Premier League club still ‘have him on the table’ for a potential summer signing.

It was partly connected to Adam Traore’s situation, with Barcelona considering keeping the Wolves owned player, but not wanting to pay money for him. The possibility of Francisco Trincão, currently on loan at Wolves from Barca, being used in a swap deal has been pushed forward a number of times, and it was explained Puig could be an alternative.

Then, on March 8th, there was more from Spain about a possible Wolves move for Puig.

Sport said Bruno Lage’s side have ‘again shown an interest’ in the 22-year-old midfielder.

The newspaper reported that the English club believe Puig is a ‘very interesting talent to capture’ and are willing to make their move to get him, having made some sort of effort during the last summer window.

Catalan newspaper Sport now covers a claimed agreement between Barcelona and Franck Kessie, which would see the AC Milan player arrive as a free agent in the summer.

As part of the report it’s made clear it could push Puig closer to the exit, and further ruin his dream of making it at the Camp Nou.

Puig is the only player named, and it’s increasingly apparent Xavi Hernandez doesn’t currently see a role for him to play, which can only be good news for Wolves’ chances of signing him.
