Spanish outlet AS features today a piece on the situation of Unai Núñez, who’s living a controversial time at Athletic Bilbao.

They say the player rejected the three offers the club made for him to renew his contract, and has been demanding to be loaned out before accepting a new deal.

It’s also claimed that a few English sides are interested in his signing, with some interesting news regarding Watford and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

AS first says that the Hornets tried to sign the defender on a loan deal last year. They wanted a temporary move with a buying option which was far below his €30m release clause, and the offer was turned down by Bilbao.

They add that Arsenal, Everton and West Ham all made approaches since then, but the most recent interest comes from Wolves.

It’s said the Molineux side have ‘put their eyes’ on the player just a month ago, as manager Nuno Espírito Santo really likes the player.

The problem is that Wolves, just like all other clubs, are struggling to be convinced that Núñez is worth the €30m from his release clause, which is described as ‘insurmountable in these uncertain moments’.

Unfortunately for all involved, Bilbao won’t let him leave for less.
