When Wolverhampton Wanderers started signing the likes of Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez, it looked like a big deal for a club who weren’t used to those kind of transfers.
But now with bigger aspirations in the Premier League, the standards have changed, and a proof of it is a story brought by Calcio Mercato.
The outlet claims that Wolves are interested in Amadou Diawara from Napoli, and should fight against big boys to get the 21-year-old.
It’s said that Jorge Mendes has recently made an approach to know Napoli’s and Diawara’s intentions. He’s aware that the player would like a Premier League move, especially because he hasn’t been much used at the Italian side.
Wolves’ attempt came in ‘the past few days’ and has initially been ‘returned to sender’.
Now regarding price, the figures are pretty high. Calcio Mercato claims that Tottenham had a €38m offer knocked back last summer, and now Napoli consider him to be worth at least €50m.
Milan are other big club after the player, but due to Financial Fair Play, they would have only two options: a loan or a swap.
A loan is not considered by Napoli for now, so what Milan could do would be to offer Gonzalo Higuain to return to his old club.
So it’s pretty clear that if Wolverhampton really want Diawara, they will have to make a big investment to beat all that competition.
A January move isn’t ruled out.
