Portuguese newspaper Record today features a front page story about the future of Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes. That means, as already known by anyone who have followed this saga, that Wolverhampton Wanderers are again being named as a potential destination.
The piece today writes that despite the wishes from manager Ruben Amorim to keep the player, this plan isn’t guaranteed yet.
Record writes that Sporting ‘dodged a bullet’ when Nunes wasn’t interested in Wolves’ project, since the Molineux club had been looking to bring him to the Premier League during the early weeks of the window.
Now the newspaper claims Bruno Lage’s side could be back in charge ‘in the next few weeks’, but first have some other priorities regarding their squad.
It’s said Wolves would rather reinforce other areas of the team, especially their attack. Subsequently there’s not such an urge to go in back for Nunes at this stage.
Record claim Sporting are still demanding €45m plus €5m in bonuses for the sale. It’s been previously reported that Wolverhampton had already reached that amount, so an agreement with the Lions doesn’t seem to be a problem.
However, it seems the the biggest difficulty is trying to convince the player over a move.
