Wolves are rightfully sticking to their guns regarding Rui Patricio, and won’t let AS Roma take him away for relative peanuts.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports that whilst there’s an agreement between the Serie A club and the goalkeeper, there’s still distance between Wolves and Roma.
The Italian club are said to have offered €6m plus bonus payments, whereas the Premier League side are ‘asking for double’. Patricio’s contract expires in June 2022, and given the player is 33-years-of-age, Roma clearly feel a bargain deal should be given to them.
From Wolves’ perspective, Patricio is a senior player for them and they’ll have to go out and get a replacement for Bruno Lage. Signing a new first choice goalkeeper is always risky, and the whole drama probably isn’t worth it for the sake of €6m.
Roma will likely have to increase their offer, and Gazzetta believe a deal could be done at around €10m, especially if Patricio tries to force Wolves into a sale. There’s even a claim a Roma player could be used in the transfer, with Davide Santon surprisingly named as an option.
Santon is now 30-years-of-age, and the fullback played just 608 minutes of football for Roma last season, following 973 minutes in the previous campaign.
