Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a move for Sassuolo’s Jeremy Toljan this summer.

The right-back initially joined the Italian club on loan from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 and they made his stay permanent two years later. He was a regular last season and was a key part of Sassuolo’s squad that secured promotion to Serie A.

Toljan will become a free agent from next Tuesday and Wolves are one of the options for him.

Fussball Transfers states Vítor Pereira sees the 30-year-old as an ideal target for the right-back slot. They add the Premier League club have made contact over signing him on a free transfer this summer.

Genoa, VfB Stuttgart and an unnamed club from Spain are also interested in the German. Despite Sassuolo’s promotion to the top flight, Toljan is set to leave them because he is looking for a new challenge in his career.

According to the report, the fullback could ‘find what he’s looking for in England’ where Wolves are his suitor.

Nélson Semedo was the first choice right-back at Molineux last season and his contract expires next Monday. The former Barcelona man is set to leave Wolves, and they could replace him with Toljan.
