Venezia’s Thomas Henry has emerged as a transfer target for Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.
Having arrived in Italy from OH Leuven in the summer of 2021, the striker managed 12 goals and three assists in all competitions in his debut season. That was not enough to help his side avoid relegation from Serie A.
The 27-year-old’s current deal runs down in 2014, but he is likely to leave the Italian club this summer and Wolves could be an option for him.
Friday’s edition of Corriere del Veneto explains that Bruno Lage’s side have ‘scheduled an appointment’ with Venezia in the next few days to ‘define the transfer’ of the Frenchman to the Premier League.
Venezia are asking for €15m to let the player leave, while the ‘counter-proposal’ is for €10m. This could be the fee that Wolves are willing to offer, which is €5m less than what was demanded by Henry’s employer.
Despite the difference, the newspaper adds that ‘mediation will not be difficult’.
This would suggest that an agreement would not be hard to find to take Henry away from Venezia.
