The Mexican press continues to be pretty confident that Edson Alvarez is leaving America, even though they don’t know his destination yet.

In the past week, several reports have been pointing to both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ajax as possible destinations for the defender, although reports of official offers are still to come.

With the Dutch side getting most attention lately, journalist Jonatan Peña yesterday made sure to tell everyone that Wolves still have a chance to land the player.

“There is a lot of talk about Edson and Ajax. But I want to see that the formal offer on America’s table,” Jonatan Peña said on Twitter. “Wolves are still alive and as I have been saying: the highest bidder.”

He doesn’t make it clear if Wolves are the highest bidder or if the highest bidder takes Alvarez, but he definitely believes the Premier League side still stand a chance.

America manager Miguel Herrera already admits that he’s losing Alvarez. Speaking to the local press this Monday, he said the club won’t stop the player from making his move.

“Edson’s decision to leave is with him, to go wherever he wants, we want him to stay but we know of his aspirations,” said Herrera.
