Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Gonçalo Guedes is set to stay at Benfica for another season, according to claims from Portugal.
Mais Futebol report that the 26-year-old, who spent the past six months on loan at the Eagles, is set to have his spell renewed by the Molineux side.
The website claims the agreement is ‘recent’ and is a result of the player’s wish to stay at Benfica for longer.
Wolves, who have Guedes under contract until 2027, are expected to continue to paying part of the player’s salary.
The winger has been struggling with knee injuries recently, and had a new surgery in May. He’s still in recovery and shouldn’t be ready for the start of the new season.
As previously reported by the Portuguese media, his lack of playing time in his loan spell is a big reason for him to want to stay and prove himself at the club.
In this half season playeing for the Eagles, he only made 15 appearances, with two goals scored.
Wolves now certainly hope that he recovers well and then can be sold for a reasonable amount, as he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €23m.
