Back at the weekend, we’ve covered several reports from the Portuguese media which talked about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in Benfica striker Gonçalo Ramos.
Even Bruno Lage was recently asked about their pursuit for the player, even though the Eagles have been making it clear they’d rather hold the 21-year-old for the season.
The Lisbon press has been claiming that only an offer worth €40m would be enough to take Ramos from the Luz, and local reports now sound confident that Wolves could reach that amount.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã comes up today saying that the Molineux side are ‘willing to advance’ to sign the striker this summer. Without many details, they point out the price demanded by Benfica, as if that wasn’t an obstacle for Bruno Lage’s efforts.
The season may have just started, but Ramos already has five goals and three assists in only give matches for the Eagles.
So if clubs were already interested in him during the off-season, his start has only encouraged them to make a late summer attempt.
Bruno Lage already knows the player back from his time at Benfica, and that’s one of the reasons the Portuguese media insist that a move to Wolves is still a possibility for the final weeks of the transfer window.
