Wolverhampton Wanderers have joined Everton in ‘thinking’ about a move for Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Lemar.
The Frenchman has endured a difficult time in Spain since arriving at the Wanda Metropolitano since arriving in a £63m deal from Monaco in 2018.
He has been linked with a move away from the club regularly over the last year, with the Premier League having been named as a potential destination on more than one occasion.
Everton were linked back in June, with Le 10 Sport claiming that they had ‘a lot of interest’ in the World Cup winner.
They were the last team to be directly linked with an interest, as rumours about a potential move to Arsenal have always been a case of him being offered by Atlético than the Gunners being interested.
Now, though, it seems he has a new suitor in Wolves, with Le10 now claiming they are ‘thinking’ about the Frenchman this summer.
The website explains that their close relationship with Jorge Mendes means that Atlético ‘could clearly get along’ with the Portuguese agent who – as we’re sure you’re more than aware by this point – is ‘very involved’ at Molineux.
That’s the extent of the information provided, with it not made clear if Wolves have been in touch about a potential move or anything of that nature.
This, though, has Mendes written all over it. Le10 allude to as much by mentioning his relationship with Atlético and how that could see a deal happen.
The likelihood is this a deal he has proposed to Wolves, knowing he can get involved with it somewhere along the line, and that is where this story comes from, as opposed to Nuno Espirito Santo and co genuinely wanting the player this summer.
Nonetheless, expect this to be a rumour that appears more across the transfer window, and perhaps even becomes something a little more serious once Mendes can work his influence to push things along a little further.
