In what has been a fun but brief transfer mini saga, Patrick Cutrone to Wolverhampton is almost over.

Pulled from his team’s pre-season and shipped back to Europe, the Milan striker is extremely close to moving to Molineux this summer, to the point where they reckon it could be finalised either ‘today or tomorrow’.

That’s what Corriere dello Sport say, explaining the transfer is currently in the final stages of ‘being perfected’ for €18m + €4m in bonuses.

Gazzetta dello Sport also cover it, reporting the player has also found an agreement with Wolves, leading to the ‘umbilical cord’ being ‘clipped’, he who has been at Milan since his early days as a footballer.

They also state there is some ‘disillusion’ within the Serie A club’s fanbase at the sale, as many are disappointed at seeing one of their ‘idols’ leave, especially after the early promise he showed when he first broke into the squad.

However, they should be able to wipe their tears once Rafael Leao arrives from Lille, who will offer a more versatile option to Marco Giampaolo than Cutrone.

For Wolves and Nuno Espirito Santo, this looks like a very good deal.
