Roderick Miranda’s new loan spell may not mean a lot for Wolverhampton Wanderers fans, but it’s received with a lot of excitement by the Portuguese media today.

The defender is joining Famalicão, who are on top of the league table after four fixtures, leaving the likes of Benfica, Porto, Sporting and Braga behind.

The transfer was made official on Sunday, and when covering it this morning, newspaper Record says the player is ‘pleased’ with it, since he will have the chance of shining on the same stage where ‘he was once happy’.

Miranda’s ‘vast experience’ is what convinced Famalicão to sign him on a one-year loan spell, but it’s not said if the Portuguese side will have a chance to make the move permanent.

“I’m happy to be back in Portugal and to a club who are reconquering their space in Portuguese football”, Miranda told Famalicão’s official website.

Miranda signed for Wolves on a €3m deal for Rio Ave in 2017. He’s only played for the Premier League side for one season, since he later joined Olympiacos on a loan spell.
