Not for the first time in recent years, Wolverhampton Wanderers find themselves in a transfer tussle with Real Madrid for a youngster.
The La Liga giants had tried on several occasions to get Rafa Mir from Valencia, but their repeat efforts came to nothing, only to see Wolves swoop in and get him.
Whilst that particular move hasn’t paid off yet, it’s not put Wolves off looking towards similar signings, at least according to Sunday’s edition of AS.
Real Madrid are keen on Facu Pellistri, who is dubbed ‘the pearl of Penarol’. Having snatched Federico Valverde from the same Uruguayan club in 2016, there’s little surprise Madrid have interest in Pellistri.
However, they won’t have it all their own way, with AS reporting Wolves have moved for the player ‘this week’. There’s no further explanation on how Nuno Espirito Santo’s club are doing in the chase, but it’s stated Manchester City, Napoli, Atalanta, Bologna, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Almeria are also keen.
Pellistri is an 18 year old right winger, and there’s no information on his work permit status in AS’ article, but it’s been reported previously that he has dual Uruguayan and Spanish nationality, which would help a transfer sail through.
