At 18 years of age and already regularly starting for Lyngby BK in the Superligaen, it’s fair to say Frederik Winther is one of the more exciting talents currently developing in Denmark.
Already making 13 appearances this season, the centre-back has caught the attention of a number of teams around Europe, including Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have been regular visitors to his games.
That’s what Ekstra Bladet are reporting on Wednesday, claiming it’s already the ‘fourth time’ Wolves have gone to see him this autumn to take a closer look at him.
The man for the job was their ‘Scandinavian chief scout’, and the recurrence of his visits might be because he’s still raw.
They muse if the left-footed defender’s next destination is ‘already called the Premier League’, and even then, the choice might be made for him as ‘the cheque can be so large that sports director Birger Jørgensen finds it difficult to say no if a PL club is ready to pay the fee’.
We’ll have to see if Wolves hand Nuno Espírito Santo another young talent to develop in the near future, but judging by their scouting habits, they are clearly considering it.
