Barcelona’s Óscar Mingueza lost prominence after Xavi Hernández was appointed as the La Liga side’s manager in November.

He can operate in the heart of the defence or as a right-back and has drawn attention from Leeds United.

According to Sport, the Whites are ‘very interested’ in the 22-year-old and their leaders have asked about his situation as they like him. The English club believe the player has the ‘ideal profile’ for the Premier League, taking into account his age and versatility.

With the Spaniard’s lack of minutes at the Camp Nou in recent months, the report states that ‘everything indicates’ he can secure a move in the summer.

It’s explained Jesse Marsch’s side can take Mingueza, either on loan or a permanent deal, and his move to Elland Road could give the Catalan club a ‘definitive boost’ to sign Raphinha.

The ‘negotiating channels between the two clubs remains open’ as Leeds and Barcelona are keen to sign Mingueza and the Brazil international respectively.

The possible inclusion of defender in the operation may help the Blaugrana bring Raphinha to the club.
