For the past few days, Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi has been linked to clubs in England.

After Hull City were first named as a possible contender for the 27-year-old, Leeds United were then dragged into the mix.

On January 11th, La Lazio Siamo Noi explained the interest of the Whites is ‘registered’ to sign the Kosovo international. It was also explained the Premier League side are only considering taking the frontman on a loan deal in the winter market.

The Serie A side invested around €20m [including agent commission] in signing Muriqi from Fenerbahçe in 2020. He has managed two goals and two assists in 48 matches in all competitions and has now been left out of Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

Il Mattino explain that Lazio need funds to ‘unblock the market’ and that can either be done by raising funds through the help of their chairman, Claudio Lotito, or by selling some of their players.

Muriqi fits the latter category. He had recently expressed his admiration towards Turkey, but admitted he is not considering a move to that country.

Despite his comments, his wife opened the door to a return to Istanbul. The newspaper claim the ‘desire to return to Turkey is great’, where Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are named as suitors. Apart from these two clubs, Hull City and Marcelo Bielsa’s side are tagged in the report.

Il Mattino state Lazio will have to sell Muriqi for ‘just under €14m’ to ‘avoid the loss in January’. However, so far, ‘no offer’ has arrived from Leeds or any other club for the player.
