Raphaël Varane’s decision to not accept a renewal offer from Real Madrid has become a reason for discomfort at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Various reports have named Manchester United as a major contender to take the defender and Los Blancos had earlier suspected the 28-year-old has an ‘important agreement’ with the Red Devils.

On Monday, Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada appeared as a guest on El Chiringuito TV and he provided a short update on United’s interest in the centre-back.

According to Estrada, ‘the agreement is total’ between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and Real Madrid.

Another journalist, Edu Aguirre, hasn’t dismissed the ‘total agreement’ claims between Manchester United and Real Madrid, but he feels Varane now doesn’t want to leave Los Blancos.

Aguirre, also speaking to El Chiringuito TV, states that ‘to this day’, Varane doesn’t want an exit from the Spanish giants.

That contradicts a lot of what has been said before, and would present the drama of the past few months as a play for better wages.

Real Madrid have shown with Sergio Ramos that they won’t simply wait forever for a renewal decision, and that should put some pressure on the France international.
