Manchester United looked at AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, according to claims coming out of Italy.
The centre-back initially arrived at the San Siro on a loan deal from Chelsea in January 2021 and his transfer was made permanent later that year.
He was integral for Stefano Pioli’s side in the title winning campaign last term. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A and has always had a positive impact within the Rossoneri’s dressing room.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian champions have plans to offer a new contract to the player amid the Red Devils’ approach.
It’s said United have ‘shown some interest’ in the England international in recent weeks. A potential move will be difficult because the former Blues man has informed his entourage not to listen any offers for him this summer.
‘With all due respect to Manchester United’, the report explains Milan want to keep Tomori beyond 2025, when his current deal expires. In fact, they plan to extend it by two more years and also improve his salary.
It’s to be noted United are working to sign Lisandro Martínez to strengthen their defence and have already made a new bid worth €50m to Ajax for the Argentine.
