Fluminense starlet Matheus Martins is on his way to Watford, according to claims from Brazil, but that doesn’t mean it’s the Hornets who are buying the player.
UOL columnist Bruno Andrade today writes that it’s Udinese who found an agreement for the youngster. The Italian club are reportedly paying between €8m and €9m for the signing, and only ‘details’ are left for the move to be made official.
The story claims the Serie A side want to have the player in January, and the plan is to loan him to Watford immediately, as both clubs are owned by the Pozzo family.
For now, UOL doesn’t make it clear how long this loan would be, as it initially sounds like the player could be moving to Vicarage Road for only six months.
The Hornets, just like Leeds United, had already been linked to Matheus Martins this year, as the winger has been showing some exciting potential for the Rio de Janeiro side.
Watford have good history with Fluminense, as the clubs previously negotiated the transfers of Richarlison and João Pedro.
