Even though Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias normally publish their big stories in their morning printed edition, their website tonight surprisingly comes up with a piece on Liverpool’s interest in Luis Diaz.
It’s claimed that with the Reds set to loss Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane during the Africa Cup of Nations, the Porto winger has become Jurgen Klopp’s ‘favourite solution’.
Liverpool are then thinking about making an attempt in the January transfer window, although it won’t be easy to sign the 24-year-old.
Jornal de Notícias learned that in case Porto get an approach in January, they will demand the price of his release clause, which currently stands at €80m.
On Tuesday morning, newspaper Correio da Manhã also had a story on Diaz which mentioned Liverpool.
They claimed that manager Sérgio Conceição has asked the winger to stay at Porto until the end of the season, and should have his request met. The Reds were named as one of the candidates for his signing, while he’s also linked with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
Diaz was joint Copa America’s top scorer this summer, along with Lionel Messi, and already has 11 goals for the Dragons this season.
