Harry Kane to Real Madrid hasn’t fully caught the imagination in Spain, despite almost relentless encouragement from the English media over the past few months.
Tottenham travelling to the Bernabeu saw something of a peak, but even then the appetite for Kane didn’t really match any major Real Madrid targets of the past, which has all got to be a relief for Spurs.
That’s not to say the idea hasn’t got some backers, and one of those is Marca’s Roberto Gomez.
In his Tuesday back page column, Gomez states Kane is the transfer Real Madrid need. The journalist believes it’s all well and good everyone backing Karim Benzema and giving the Frenchman support, but the reality is he can’t carry the burden alone and Madrid need another striker.
Work needs to begin soon, believes Gomez, otherwise other big European clubs will move and try to get Kane for themselves. That’s not to say it’s suggested Real Madrid make an effort in January, but start the work for a summer transfer now.
Roberto Gomez is hooked.
