Despite West Ham United not playing FCSB until November 3rd, the Romanian club’s owner, Gigi Becali, is already talking about the fixture.

The two clubs are set to face off in the Europa League for the second time this season after the Hammers beat the Bucharest based side 3-1 at London Stadium on September 8th, but the 64-year-old believes the outcome will be very different this time around.

Feeling confident that they can see off Silkeborg and Anderlecht in the two fixtures, he was then asked by Pro Arena if his club could see off David Moyes’ men.

He replied, relayed by Realitatea Sportiva: “West Ham will come to our home, we will smash them. We have too strong of a team! In Bucharest, our team will be unbeatable. Let’s also take into account that they will already be qualified by then.”

While West Ham haven’t been at their best in the Premier League since the start of the season, they have a 100% record in the Europa League so far, with the return fixture against Anderlecht taking place on Thursday.

FCSB’s record is nowhere near as good, as they have picked up just the one point in the competition to date, recently losing 5-0 to Silkeborg.

Over in Liga I, the Romanian side are currently 12th after 11 games, picking up just 14 points and already 16 points off leaders FCV Farul Constanța, albeit with two games in hand.

There is still time for FCSB to gain some form between now and November 3rd, but it seems Gigi Becali’s confidence about a good result can be best described as unwarranted for the time being.
