Kacper Kozłowski’s development at Pogoń Szczecin in the last 18 months has seen him debut for Poland in March and also draw attention from clubs across Europe.

Last week, we carried a report from WP SportoweFakty, who explained that Brighton & Hove Albion are ‘very interested’ in the 18-year-old.

On Tuesday, TVP Sport reported Manchester City have joined the Seagulls in the race to sign the midfielder.

It was also explained the Citizens’ scouts have watched the player in action several times and are ‘willing to pay over €10m’ to acquire the Poland international’s services.

With the likes of Manchester City and Brighton named as clubs interested in Kozłowski, Polish newspaper Super Express decided to get in touch with Pogoń Szczecin president Jarosław Mroczek.

When asked if the club will decide to sell the star in the winter market or wait before cashing in from his sale, the chief said: “And do you take into account the fact that among the 20 or so clubs that are interested in him – without going into details – there will not be a club that will not come to us, but will try to agree everything with him and his surroundings?”

Kozłowski’s contract expires in 2023 and Mroczek is of the belief it’s best to sit across the table, if there is an offer for him.

“It’s not so clear cut [agreeing to a transfer]. Do you think that if Kacper has agreed terms that will take him to another financial planet, then I will not agree and we will forcibly keep him? In that case, we will sit down and talk,” the president explained.

Super Express state a talent like Kozłowski comes once in 20 years and therefore, ask Mroczek if it would not be best to keep him for as long as possible.

Responding to that, Mroczek said: “Maybe you are looking at it as a journalist, but you would have to take part in such conversations once in your life and see how the payment of 50,000 złoty [Polish currency] differs for a footballer from a payment of, for example, 10 times higher, and in a different currency.

“Unfortunately, we are a Polish league, and not one of the leading leagues in Europe, where the talks take place on a slightly different basis.

“I believe that it would be best for Kacper to stay with us for a longer period of time. However, I don’t rule out that the financial conditions offered by foreign clubs will not allow it.

“The clubs give visions to the player and his surroundings. There is too much gap between the Polish league and the richest league for us to have all the arguments in hand and be able to act fully rationally.”

It’s to be noted that even though Mroczek mentions there are several clubs interested in Kozłowski, he hasn’t provided any details of his suitors.
