Earlier today we covered claims from Spain that Samu Saiz is ‘one step’ away from signing for Leeds United.

The SD Huesca player has been repeatedly linked with a move to Leeds over the past week or so, and it feels like he’s been on the verge of a transfer for all that time.

Leeds United have pushed past Eibar and have been felt, from the start, the club likeliest to reach Huesca’s €3.5m valuation. There’s also been claims the Championship club have offered that much, although that could just have been the gossip developing.

A couple of days ago Mundo Deportivo reported that Saiz has been offered ‘close to €1m’ a year to join Leeds United.

Jorge Puyuelo, a journalist close to Huesca, has spoken to various Spanish media, and to Cadena Cope on Wednesday he said: “It will be official by the latest Monday.”

That may not be the Wednesday evening or Thursday morning which some Leeds United fans will have been hoping for, but it’s another example of how, in Spain, Samu Saiz to Leeds United is seen as a sure thing.

Are they right? We should all know by Monday, at the latest!
