Last week, reports from the Portuguese media revealed Wolverhampton Wanderers interest in Sporting youngster Youssef Chermiti.
It was claimed Wolves sent scouts to watch the forward in pre-season, making ‘exploratory contacts’ to know more about a potential summer transfer.
It turns out that as newspaper A Bola today features a story on this situation, they claim Molineux will not be his destination.
The outlet explains there’s a strong chance Chermiti could leave Sporting in this window, as his future is ‘open’ and there are many English clubs interested in him.
Still, specifically about Wolves, A Bola writes ‘that will not be his destiny’.
The most interesting thing here is that the outlet doesn’t explain why the move to Julen Lopetegui is ruled out. It’s not said whether they’re actually not interested in the player, or if Sporting can’t find a deal with them. It’s just claimed that it’s not happening.
The newspaper writes that the Lions are keen on negotiating the player’s exit for something between €15m and €20m. A deal for that price could apparently be agreed with any club but Wolves.
