Hallelujah. Allan to Everton is finally in the end game.

On Sunday, we covered a report from Italy which stated the midfielder had been left out of Napoli training, and had instead had lunch with friends in Naples so he could say his goodbyes.

The transfer was seen as a fact, and after months of negotiations it was becoming clear that Everton were getting the player for closer to what they’d originally wanted, rather than Napoli dragging the Toffees too far up.

A big part of the trouble in negotiations will have been Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis. He’s spent the summer in a rented villa on Capri, and has been having agents visit to present offers for various players.

He clearly loves this role and milks it as much as possible.

De Laurentiis also likes talking to the media and this morning he spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, the strangely named station which is closest to the club. When it came to Allan, CalcioNapoli24 quote him as saying: “We are at the final farewell. He will go to Everton.”

That, barring any last minute drama, should be that.
